Construction of a New Warehouse Complex to Start in Ida-Viru County in the Near Future

The Estonian Centre for Defence Investment (ECDI) has signed a design and construction contract with Nordecon to build a warehouse complex in Ida-Viru County. The value of the contract, including VAT, is around €9.7 million.

There is a continuing need to develop infrastructure in Estonia to increase the defence capabilities of the country. ”Over the next year, we will make a major investment in Ida-Viru County, where we will build a warehouse complex to improve our protection capacity and the conditions for the storage and warehousing of stocks,” said Ando Voogma, north and north-eastern portfolio manager of the ECDI.

Voogma added that infrastructure investments in the north-east region will amount to €35 million over the next four years. “The main focus of infrastructure development has moved from north-eastern Estonia to southern and western Estonia, which is why the warehouse complex to be built will remain one of the largest investments in Ida-Viru County in the coming years. In recent years, in the course of the development of the north-eastern region, we have built new barracks, required buildings for the repair of equipment, maintenance training garages, equipment shelters, soldiers’ accommodations, universal halls for the reception of allies, and much more.”

“The need for well-designed, well-located and well-structured defence facilities has clearly increased in Estonia in recent years. The team of Nordecon and I have been able to contribute to the execution of these projects in the Virumaa region before and I am sure that our previous experience will be of great benefit in achieving a high-quality result,” said Gerd Müller, chairman of the management board of Nordecon. “As a contracting entity, the state is clearly motivated and demanding, and we hope that our work will meet their expectations.”

In addition to the construction of the warehouse complex, the necessary infrastructure will also be built as part of the project.

The warehouse complex will be completed in autumn 2024.
